In 1920, Department of Oriental studies (Pāli) was situated in the Yangon University of starting foundation. This Department extended all Universities in Myanmar and the content was Hinthada University in 2003. The moto of the Department of Oriental studies in Hinthada University is “ñāto attho sukhāvaho.” It means “knowledge leads to meaning, Meaning leads to happiness”.
